Police Office of the Year

The
nomination period for the Officer of the Year awards opens
in
July 2008.
Nomination forms are available here from the website and
directly from the Chequered Ribbon Association.
Nominations for each category can be made by any person,
including members of the public.
Police Officer of the year awards include categories for:
Police Officer of the Year
Federal Agent of the Year
Unsworn Member of the Year
Protective Service Officer of the Year
Nominations will be based on set criteria and nominees must
have demonstrated a consistent commitment and dedication
throughout the year. All persons nominated must also have
consistently performed or acted in accordance with the AFP’s
Core Values.
The
criteria for nominations is:
a. Outstanding
acts of courtesy, kindness or courage;
b. Humane
handling of difficult situations;
c. Continuous
devotion to an area which assists, in a significant way, the
Australian Federal Police;
d. Continuous
devotion to an area which assists, in a significant way, ACT
Community Policing;
e. Continuous
devotion to an area which assists, in a significant way, the
community;
f. Actions
and performance that contributes, in a significant way, to
building positive relations between young people, the
community and police.
Nominations will be short listed to three to five in each
category (depending on number of nominations received) by
the CRA Board.
The
details of people selected for short listing will be
distributed via e-mail to all AFP employees. AFP employees
will have the opportunity to vote for this award through an
electronic mailbox, set up specifically for this task.
The
person receiving the most votes (in each category) will
receive that particular category award. Voting shall be for
a period of three weeks and will be held in September of
each year.
The announcement of the awards will be
made at the Association’s Charity Ball in
October of each year. |
