The Association

The Chequered Ribbon Association (Australian Federal Police) Incorporated (CRA) was set up to perpetuate the memory of Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers killed in the line of duty, and to raise funds for worthwhile charitable purposes.
The association is governed by a constitution, which outlines specific purposes where funds will be used, with the main objectives of the CRA being:
-
To perpetuate the memory of Australian Federal Police officers killed in the line of duty through carrying out worthwhile charitable and welfare purposes
-
Establish a marketable image for the CRA based on the production and promotion of Constable Kenny Koala and associated products
-
To raise funds for worthwhile charitable causes
The Values of the CRA
The CRA values are based on accountability, integrity, and the desire to assist the families of AFP officers killed in the line of duty through worthwhile charitable projects and programs. Membership of the association is open to the public and members of the Australian Federal Police.
What we do it
The CRA was established in 2004 to perpetuate the memory of Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers killed in the line of duty by providing support to their families.
A core task for the CRA is to raise money to provide financial support to the families of those AFP Officers.
It is not only financial support that families need. Therefore, the CRA will establish a group of serving and retired officers and their families to take on the role of legators - a group who will be there to support on an individual basis.
How we do it
The CRA raises funds through various projects to help support the families of AFP officers killed in the line of duty. Events include the annual Charity Ball and the Charity Golf Day.
The Association also raises funds throughout the year by the sale of various merchandise items - with the Constable Kenny Koala being the main merchandising.
The CRA also awards annual scholarship to worthy applicants. These scholarships have been set up to perpetuate the memory of Theo Freeth (AFP Chaplain) and Adam Dunning (AFP Protective Service Officer). The winners of the scholarships are announced at the annual Charity Ball.
Also announced at the annual Charity Ball are the winners of the Police Officer of the Year awards.
